  Introduction to
  MATH/ENGLISH (M/E) Program

This is an on-site, interactive tutoring class[1] (max. 5 heads per class) covering MATH Curriculum from Grade 4 to 10, including Arithmetic, Pr-Algebra, Geometry, Algebra I/II, and Pre-Calculus. After a Level Assessment[2], the journey starts at a proper level comparable to his standing, with my own lecture materials and work-sheets generated by EdHelper.com. JenIndeed will lead students all the way ready for Calculus. These one-hour-per-week, face-to-face classes not only give students inspiring presentations but also assign homework generated by EdHelper.

As for the ENGLISH part, there include 30min/week ZOOM-Webinars solely for brushing on vocabulary flashcards. With the attendants' own standings and efforts, they are more of the contest forum facilitated by the instructor than of the lecture classes.

[1] $190~$210 tuition per 4-hour, good thru June. 2025.

[2] $50 for an initial one-on-one assessment on both Math and Vocab.

Arithmetic

From Kindergarten to 3rd Grade, students incept their quantitative senses, i.e numbers, addition, multiplication, length, weight, and time, with which they explore the world on the second dimension besides emotions and feelings; their left brain cells governing logic and reasoning begin to wire up as the cognitive development process. Parents, not school teachers, play significant roles in their progress.

  1. From 3rd to 5th Grade, upon their established brain clusters builds advanced arithmetic concepts such as Multi-digit OperationsFractional/Decimal conversions, and Scientific Notations. JenIndeed has been trained by  KUMON, EYE LEVEL, and also with 16 Home-School Years, JenIndeed is here to assist your children to master these concepts and techniques in an intuitive, inspirational way.

  2. Mental Math adopted from  KUMON Method in building Number Sense, along with Estimation and Percent, are three pillars to laying foundation for Pre-Algebra and further for Statistics and Accounting. Refer to Kumon's Worksheet (Level A-B) and head off to KUMON for this subject. See my notes links below:

Pre-Algebra

  1. Carrying on from Arithmetic, students are to expand Numbers from Positive to Negative and Exponent Forms, from 4 operations to Ratio, Proportion, Percent and GCF/LCM. Some of the youths may face some challenges on these topics; JenIndeed has come up with some skills to ease up the barriers. Visit notes for the idea:

  2. Fundamental Geometry is brought onto the stage as intuitive lessons: 2D/3D ShapesArea/Volume are presented in parallel to Arithmetic.

  3. Measurement Systems are the typical application for Fractional /Decimal Numbers; Imperial System is worth paying attention to as the application of fractions:

  4. Probability, a non-intuitive concept, may be the utmost challenge at this stage. JenIndeed is adept at transforming concepts such as Permutation, Combination, Independence into intuition.

  5. Algebraic Expression/Equation: The basic idea of Algebra, using letters to represent numbers, is debuted here as a bridge over the following stage, i.e. Algebra I+Geometry I.

Pre-Algebra

Algebra I + Geometry

Having got their feet wet in Algebra, students are getting comfortable with letters representing numbers. Number Line & Cartesian Coordinates, on the other hand, provide the graphical presentation to emerge the other side of the brain, i.e. Spatiality.

Analytic Geometry puts numbers and shapes together as "Another 2 Sides of 1 Coin". From this point on "letters as numbers" and "points as coordinates" are cross-represented.

Exponent & Linear Systems, two entry points for the long journey of Algebra, set the cornerstone for students to master and succeed in high-level Algebra.

JenIndeed adopts KUMON's "Practice makes perfect" principle on these topics; it is mandatory to exercise hundreds of items repetitively on  Identifying Slope and Linear Equation Forms. Things like Combine Algebraic Fractions are also required tens of items to practice. As I had been preaching to my children for 24 years:

"Make them be part of your bloodstreams"

Pythagorean Theorem and Completing the Square, on the other hand, require understanding not only on face value but also on the logic behind the scene. JenIndeed has made interactive and vivid lectures to enlighten students such that these concepts may be implanted in their minds. Refer to my note links:
